IPAD – Portuguese Institute for Development Support
Portugal joined the Good Humanitarian Donorship in 2006, and since then, established a dialogue with the most relevant authorities on this subject, with the objective of agreeing on a domestic implementation plan, as well as a National Humanitarian Aid Action Plan.
In spite of the current financial constraints, all the available funds are allocated according to the GHD principles and the Humanitarian Aid Consensus, recognising the central and unique role of the United Nations as leader and coordinator. That is way we established, as a best practice, regular and predictable contributions for the CERF – Central Emergency Response Fund.
We are also currently incorporating Disaster Risk Reduction activities in the Country Strategy Papers of our priority countries and Sector Strategy papers, in support of international efforts within Hyogo Framework for Action.
